AstraLabs Partnerships

Review opened and planned committees. Choose your mission to join.

  • Define how you want to integrate with the ecosystem.

    We have three roles:

    1. Leaders

      This role is reserved for the entities that are ready to lead in their particular field and want to actively review and develop standards for safer, quicker, modern mission and product assurance. Leaders will also define the direction of the ecosystem’s work.

    2. Participants

      This role is designed for entities that want to offer their services and products both commercially and for testing, participate in the creation of test environments, and share knowledge while joining specialised committees.

    3. Observers

      This role is designed for those who want to stay informed but cannot currently actively support AstraLabs’ mission or vision, and don’t wish to provide their services commercially at this time.

  • To democratise Space we need your help.

    Here are the responsibilities of each member role:

    1. Leaders

      Lead committees in particular fields.

      Meet once a month to summarise the work.

      Review the assigned standards and procedures to assess them.

      Create reports on the direction of their field and present them every six months.

      Participate in the development of the ecosystem.

      Review the entry applications.

      Offer their services.

      Present a chosen topic in their field once a month to share knowledge and raise awareness.

    2. Partners

      Join the committees and support their work in the designated field.

      Participate in the review meetings.

      Provide the services.

      Take part in a gradual questionnaire.

      Present a chosen topic in their field once a month to share knowledge and raise awareness.

    3. Observers

      Don’t have an active role, but may decide to join a committee

      You are informed about news, updates, events and participants in the ecosystem.

    You can switch roles, although to become a Leader, there must be an open position for a leader in a particular sector.

  • We are living in the age of information and space exploration. We should use it as an adventage.

    1. You can provide services to the ecosystem so we can build our real-life test environments consisting of Orbital and Ground TestLabs, mission-critical systems, analog habitats and tech-parks.

    2. You can be part of commercial projects, and we can use your services in suitable contracts.

    3. You can be part of the committees that will regularly present the findings to the National Space Agencies.

    4. You will be part of the information loop that aims to share the knowledge gained within AstraLabs.

    5. You may use the available data to expand your studies, enhance your services and upgrade your products.

Each committee is like a spaceship, heading in its direction, on course to fulfil the mission goals. The main objective is to explore. By thinking, discussing, and sharing, we aim to co-create and support new standards, compliance processes, and a better, more accessible future of space technology, all while upholding our core value: Safety first! We are focused on both expanding the existing body of knowledge and addressing future challenges.

Software Qualification Committee

  • Due to the increasing complexity of the projects, it is becoming clear that we will not be able to continue building our missions from scratch or reuse well-known and certified components (both software and hardware).

    Imagine having to qualify Windows OS as flight-ready… It would be almost impossible, but we will use existing electronics in space.

    So, the problem arises: how to ensure that the Safety First value is adhered to, while the project can be completed within a reasonable time and budget.

    This committee examines new needs for not only standards and procedures but also services that would enable them, like AstraLabs’ constellation program for easy and accessible test environments.

    Therefore, this committee is oriented towards both non-profit and for-profit goals, making it ideal for Tech providers who want to fulfil the new demand for modern compliance.

Post Quantum communication for Space

  • As the quantum revolution takes significant steps towards real-life implementations, the problem of communication arises.

    And it’s becoming even harder when we consider that communication between the flight segment and the ground segment needs to be post-quantum ready.

    We need to investigate not only the technologies we want to use in future satellites but also the possibilities of upgrading existing equipment to new standards. Once Quantum-Tech is enrolled, it will render all the existing devices obsolete, putting at risk crews and equipment in Space.

    1. Propose standards for post-quantum encryption for Space

    2. Develop a working PoC and verify in a live environment with AstraLabs test satellite.

    3. Propose a procedure for upgrading existing hardware to post-quantum encryption standards or make a mitigation plan to assure the safety of the crews, vessels and other equipment.

Analog environment procedure compliance

  • This committee examines standardising how analogue missions are conducted to achieve a certain level of consistency.

    This could facilitate data exchange and comparison, allowing for broader research and a deeper understanding.

    The committee's goal is to ensure that the analogue environment creates the most value while carrying out its missions.

    We also aim to establish a unified format for standard data collection and mission documentation.

    Lastly, the committee should investigate how testing should be carried out during analogue missions to ensure consistent results

Space-Native Payment Processing Standards

  • As humanity progresses towards reaching other planets and exploring deep space, we still need to remember that day-to-day lives require attending to very down-to-earth matters.

    The future of transactions is space-native. Extraterrestrial payments refer to any financial transactions conducted beyond Earth’s surface, including within orbit, on lunar bases, and between spacecraft or stations.

    These payments are native to space-based operations and may occur:

    • Between lunar installations and orbital platforms

    • Across space stations and satellites

    • Or within interplanetary missions.

    They require infrastructure that accounts for latency, security in extreme environments, and coordination between Earth-based and off-world financial systems.

    This matter is closer than we can imagine, and we need innovators and pioneers who can prepare us for safe space-native transactions.

Off-world identity verification and confirmation.

  • We acknowledge that more humans will be actively travelling through Space. This sets a new challenge of identity confirmation.

    We don’t have a standardised way of confirming that the person received, e.g., the orbital station, is the person we expect.

    As the mission and human presence off-world become more self-reliant, we need protocols for identity confirmation and proprietary technology that support them.

    As we move closer to commercial exploration aimed at capital gains, we need to accept that the future of space is also partially private.

    While looking to the future with hope, we aim to avoid unnecessary conflict that may arise from the lack of appropriate standards and agreed-upon treaties.

    This legal committee will examine situations such as off-world mining operations, habitation, land ownership, rules for assisting, and self-protection and preservation laws.

    1. Formalise the list of areas that require immediate approach.
